The NCSC’s quarterly report for Q3 2024 is here!
This quarter, the NCSC responded to 1,905 incident reports about individuals, businesses and organisations from all over Aotearoa, a 58% increase on the previous quarter. There were several trends to note within the numbers.
Incidents of unauthorised access almost doubled, highlighting the need for us to secure all our online accounts. Phishing and harvesting credentials also increased by 70%, showing that cybercriminals are actively trying to get a foot in the door by tricking you into clicking on phishing links.
In this report, we look at evolving cyber threats and how to keep safe from them. Online attackers can target your router to break into your network. Adversary-in-the-middle phishing attacks steal your session cookies and try to beat your best defences. We also look at dynamic CVVs - a new technology that tries to combat online fraud.
