The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is aware that people are receiving scam calls from a number that appears as (04) 498 7654, which is the NCSC Incidents line.
The NCSC does not generally initiate unsolicited contact via this number and recommends the calls are not answered or called back. If you do pick up a call do not follow the caller's instructions.
We are investigating the issue and will provide further information when we can.
If you have received a call and/or followed any instructions from the call, please report it directly to us through the CERT NZ reporting tool(external link). Please include any details you have, including the phone number you received the call on and the time and date.
