Government Communications Security Bureau’s (GCSB) cyber defence services called CORTEX has been named Best Security Project or Initiative at the 2018 Information Security Awards NZ.
GCSB Director-General Andrew Hampton says the award recognised the efforts of staff across the Bureau to build and sustain trusted relationships with a broad cross section of New Zealand’s most significant organisations.
“This award is testament to the hard work and effort of the GCSB team over a number of years to deliver a complex and unique range of cyber defence capabilities,” Mr Hampton.
“I believe this award is particularly significant as it is acknowledgement from our peers in the information security industry and from across the private sector.”
This is the second top award the GCSB has received for its delivery of the CORTEX capabilities. In July it was awarded the Institute of Public Administration (IPANZ) Excellence Award for Building Trust and confidence in Government.
CORTEX is an advanced cyber threat detection and disruption capabilities that are used to defend a range of New Zealand’s significant organisations from advanced cyber threats.
It was established in 2014 with strong uptake amongst the organisations offered CORTEX services.
The GCSB is working to expand the delivery of its cyber security services further through the roll-out of its Malware-Free Networks capability to a broader range of nationally significant organisations.
